Perhaps the most efficient way to experience a wide range of medicine is a family medicine rotation. Because family medicine physicians see patients across all age ranges (and often throughout the majority of a patient’s life), many different cases and symptoms are bound to come up. For a trainee only rotating for one month, this makes a family medicine rotation especially exciting.

This was especially true of Shirley’s experience during her family medicine in Boca Raton, Florida. Read her full story below!

Shirley’s AMO Story

I had an incredible clinical experience in Boca Raton, Florida. The rotation was in family medicine, so I got to see a bit of everything!

I saw patients of all ages with different presentations, ranging from stroke rehabilitation to bicuspid aortic valves. My preceptor was informative and more than willing to answer questions.

There were other healthcare providers and staff that made this experience fun and memorable. Not only did I learn, but I made valuable connections that will last a lifetime in addition to helping in my career development.
