AMO’s partnership with MedStar Georgetown University Hospital offers applicants the opportunity to participate in a clinical experience with the number one hospital in Washington D.C. The hospitals specialty programs, including gastroenterology, geriatrics, nephrology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and urology.
This experience focuses on the specialty of internal medicine. Only medical graduates will be considered for this experience. Individuals who complete this clinical experience are eligible to request a letter of recommendation on hospital letterhead. LoRs are only awarded to those who exceed expectations and demonstrate skills and professionalism above their peers.
A Collaborative Environment and Supplemental Learning Experiences.
All hours of this clinical experience will be inpatient. Students are guaranteed a minimum of 20 hours a week and see between 15 and 20 patients each day. Visitors in this experience are surrounded by knowledgeable and interdisciplinary staff. They will also work closely with other medical students.
Outside of the clinical experience hours, visitors may have the opportunity to attend supplemental lectures and informational discussions led by medical residents and other students.
The general hours for this experience are from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Visitors have the evenings and weekends free to spend as they would like, with Washington D.C. providing a great backdrop for sightseeing and learning U.S. history.
