With February in full swing, and Match Day just over a month away there are a couple of Match deadlines applicants should be aware of. Even for those applying in the future, these deadlines can provide a good outline of what to expect when the time comes.

February 26

Rank Order List Certification Deadline

Those who apply to the Match must submit their Rank Order List by 9 p.m. ET. Applicants are allowed to include 20 programs in their primary ranking. Those who want to rank additional programs may be charged $30 for each additional ranking.

Late Registration Deadline

Those who missed the original Match registration timeframe, which was between September 15, 2019, and November 30, 2019, have until this date to apply to the Match. Applicants who apply between December 1, 2019, and February 26, 2020, will be charged a late application fee of $50.

Match Withdrawal Deadline

Match applicants who no longer wish to be in the running for a residency program have until February 26 to withdraw their application. Residency matches are binding so those who know they cannot commit to residency should not miss this deadline.

March 16

Match Week begins with SOAP

To kick-off match weeks, medical schools will receive a report of the applicants which are unmatched. Those who are unmatched and have enrolled for the Supplemental Offer and Acceptance Program (SOAP) will be notified. These individuals will be able to begin round one of the SOAP rankings. There are three rounds with the last ending at 11 a.m. on March 19.

You can find more information on SOAP here >

March 20

Applicants Can View Match Results

On March 20, schools hold official Match Day celebrations. This is also when applicants to the Match will find out what program they have been accepted into. Applicants will receive an email with their acceptance information.
