In addition to experiencing the U.S. healthcare system, our visitors also enjoy getting to experience the U.S. From sightseeing to museums, our visitors have found plenty to do outside the clinical site.

However, in the case of our October Photo and Blog Winner Ana, she found a unique opportunity through her clinical site preceptor, who just happens to be a ringside physician for mixed martial arts. Check out Ana’s story below.

 

From the clinic site to the ringside

This experience at Dr. O’s office was more than I could have ever expected or asked for. I came in my first day expecting to have a good shadowing experience and some networking, but it was way more than that. I was able to demonstrate my theoretical knowledge, perform procedures under his guidance, meet an amazing team, doctors and residents and learn so much from him, his practice, and his bedside manner. To top it all off, Dr O is also a certified ringside physician for MMA, so I got the amazing opportunity to go to my first PFL fight as a ringside physician next to Dr O, and see the fight on the first row. This was definitely an experience that I will never forget and will always cherish. Thank you AMO for offering these opportunities to international students like me
