When you sign up for a U.S. clinical experience with AMO, our Advisors are the first step in making sure your experience is as great as it can be. They bring a passion for helping IMGs in their medical education pursuits and a knowledge about the clinical experiences AMO has to offer.
That’s why we’re so excited to announce our newest Advisor, Clair! Clair joined AMO in June 2021 and brought a unique international experience to the team. Before joining AMO, she spent a year teaching English in Madrid!
Check out our Q&A with Clair to learn more about her!
What’s your job title? And what do you do for AMO?
I am a Rotations Advisor. My job is to be the first point of contact for AMO Visitors and to help guide them in choosing the best clinical experience for their needs.
What’s the most exciting part of your job?
The most exciting part of my job is being able to connect with individuals from across the world, knowing that I am making a positive impact on their education and career.
What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
The best advice I was given was “don’t be afraid of being afraid”. This is something my grandmother told me and my cousins all the time when we were growing up. She always challenged us to take risks in life. Sometimes the one thing you need for growth is the one thing you are most afraid to do.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was young, I wanted to be an artist. It’s funny because now I can barely draw a stick figure.
What book are you reading now?
I am reading Michelle Obama’s memoir “Becoming”. I think she is such an incredible and authentic woman.
If you could get a new skill in 10 minutes, what would it be?
I would love to be able to master a new language.
Do you have any vacations planned?
Yes! My friends and I are starting to make travel plans to visit Croatia next summer.
Are you a coffee or tea person?
Coffee all the way!
What’s your favorite thing to do on the weekends?
I love having a big picnic with my friends and spending the whole day in the park, listening to music, and just having a fun relaxing day.
How do you feel about putting pineapple on pizza?
I am personally a big fan. I think it adds a great balance of sweet and savory.
If animals could talk, which would be the rudest?
Geese, no questions asked.
Which body part do you wish you could detach and why?
It would definitely be my feet after a long day.
